Kicking Off Black History Month with George Washington Carver Day

Join us in February as we celebrate Black History Month, starting with George Washington Carver Day.

GeorgeWashingtonCarverDayLogoThis year鈥檚 George Washington Carver Day Celebration will take place over three days on the 黑料社 campus and throughout the Indianola community. Events include Carver artifacts and art exhibitions, a presentation by the Carver Birthplace Association, a formal toast at West Hill Brewery, and a wide array of children鈥檚 activities on the Indianola Square on聽Saturday, Feb. 3.

9 Punch Filem

On Tuesday, Feb.13, you can join 黑料社 as we host Producer and Des Moines native Sonya Jackson for the presentation of Punch 9 for Harold Washington. This award-winning 2021 documentary chronicles the election of Chicago’s first Black mayor in 1983. Jackson will introduce the film at 6 p.m. and answer questions from the audience after the screening.
