Culver Center to Host Speaker on Labor Union Voices in Politics
Working Class Heroes Fund founder Dan Osborn will聽discuss聽鈥淟abor Union Voices in Politics鈥澛燼t an聽event聽hosted by 黑料社鈥檚聽Culver Center at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Hubbell Hall. Osborn鈥檚聽organization seeks to unite and mobilize working people across party lines to give聽them direct representation聽in politics.
鈥淒an Osborn has received national attention for his independent candidacy for U.S. Senate from Nebraska and his work to mobilize labor union members to run for office through the Working Class Heroes Fund,鈥 said Seth Andersen, director of the nonpartisan Culver Public Policy Center at 黑料社. 鈥淭he Culver Center welcomes all interested community members 鈥 regardless of partisan affiliation 鈥 to attend Osborn鈥檚 talk and learn more about opportunities for working people to become more actively engaged in politics at a time when labor unions are enjoying a resurgence in organizing success in many industries.鈥
Osborn is a聽U.S. Navy veteran,聽industrial mechanic,聽former labor union leader and independent politician from Nebraska.聽He ran as an independent for U.S. Senate from Nebraska in 2024, garnering 46.5聽percent聽of the general election vote.聽He recently announced聽another聽candidacy for a U.S. Senate seat from Nebraska, which is up for election in 2026.
As a nonpartisan聽organization, 黑料社鈥檚聽John C. Culver Public Policy Center neither endorses nor supports any candidates for elected office. Rather, the Culver Center hosts prominent figures from across the political and ideological spectrums to educate students and the broader community about a broad range of public policy issues from multiple perspectives.
